Virgo horoscope for May 2024
This is a month of two halves, though not in terms of a month that is divided equally down the middle and instead, in terms of the contrast between how the month begins and how it ends. This contrast is so stark that it is going to change the dynamics of the year itself. The Sun will always spend the first three weeks of May in your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery, something that will always put the solar spotlight on the adventurous side of life's fence while promoting a sense of wanderlust, curiosity and adventure at this time each year. While you still have Pluto in your work sector, his retrograde turn on 3rd May will keep him at a standstill for much of the month, though with a sense that he has stopped in order to wait for something.
That something will come later in the month but until then, with Venus having just joined the Sun and with Jupiter here since May 2023, this is the most dominant theme this month and it will stay that way for the first three weeks. The change or the pivot begins when the Sun leaves and returns to your career sector on 21st May, something that at this time each year will always shift the solar spotlight onto your career and professional situation, matters and options. While Mercury will return to an adventurous part of your chart on 16th May, when Venus leaves and follows the Sun into your career sector on 24th May, this will shift your heart's focus onto the professional side of life's fence.
However, the tipping point will come two days later when Jupiter leaves and returns to your career sector on 26th May, to begin your biggest year for professional growth and expansion in over a decade. This is what Pluto has been waiting for, for stationed at the start of your work sector, as first the Sun and then Venus and Jupiter return, they will move into a friendly aspect to Pluto, with the planets of luck and change set to be companions for much of the next 13 months. A month that began with a heavy focus on the adventurous side of life's fence will end with a heavy focus on the professional side. Meanwhile, Mars will spend the whole of May firing up your financial passions and fighting spirit as he fights to see you take your financial power back.
Love & Romance
While Mars is just leaving your financial sector as you move into the new month, his influence will be felt for a long time to come. Mars was the last of a parade of planets that have moved through over the last three months and arguably the one whose presence will be felt the most. What began with Mercury, the planet of communication's return in February and continued as the Sun and Venus, the planet of love moved through, concludes with Mars. As was the case with the Sun, Venus and Mercury as they moved through, Mars aligned with Saturn and Neptune, the planets that will stay on to keep the momentum going, Saturn with the resolve to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes and Neptune, the planet of dreams to remind you of what you are fighting for.The difference is that when the Sun, Mercury and Venus return next year Saturn and Neptune will still be here and will be until early 2026 and they will continue to be part of the journey that will continue to evolve and unfold. However, unlike them, Mars only returns every other year and while he will return in 2026, by then Saturn and Neptune will be gone and while Saturn returns every three decades, it will be over 150 years before Neptune returns. Mars spent his final days in your relationship sector aligned with Neptune, with their last alignment here in our lifetime leaving you with something that you can continue to fight for.
However, this is when it becomes more about the journey, with the Moon's return from 3rd May to 5th May and again on 30th May a chance to check in and become more emotionally engaged. Meanwhile, having spent the final days of April in your romantic sector, these romantically charged lunar vibes may have run their course as you move into the new month but a friendly aspect to Venus, the planet of love in an adventurous part of your chart is giving her mission to bring the spirit of romance and adventure together a boost from the start. By the time the Moon comes full circle from 26th May to 28th May, the dwarf planet Ceres will be in retrograde motion, with her retrograde turn in your romantic sector on 15th May opening the doors to the past and second chances.

First impressions don't for a minute give you any idea of what to expect from the coming month or just how game changing things are about to become. While you begin the month with the Moon having just returned to your work sector and until leaving on 3rd May this will be a chance to begin the month with an intuitive read on work and job matters from the start, Pluto has also come to a standstill ahead of a retrograde turn here on 3rd May. Pluto has come to a standstill, putting the brakes on work and job matters, something that the Moon will give you a better sense of when it moves through.Yet still in direct motion until just over an hour before the planet of change and transformation turns retrograde, this will be a chance to get the most out of these final days in direct motion while sensing the shift when it takes place. After that, with the Moon gone and Pluto in retrograde motion and at a near standstill for the majority of the month, you can be forgiven for thinking that the brakes have come on this whole professional year. However, a week later the Moon's return to your career sector from 9th May to 11th May will not only fuel your professional instincts and imagination but sharpen your sixth sense.
This is when the major changes ahead will be on your radar and you start to see this period for what it is, which is a chance to pause and catch your breath. It is 10 days later that the Sun will return to your career sector on 21st May, something that at this time each year will turn the solar spotlight onto your career and professional situation, matters and options. This will be followed by Venus' return on 24th May, but it is two days later that everything will change, with Jupiter returning on 26th May to begin your biggest year for professional growth and expansion in over a decade. As each returns they will move into a friendly aspect to Pluto, bringing work and job matters along for the ride.
Money
As you move into the new month it has been less than 48 hours since Venus, the planet of money and just 11 days since the Sun left your financial sector, bringing you to a point where things should be dialling back. Instead, it is just as you are moving into the new month that Mars, the planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos will return for his first visit in two years. As well as returning in time to capitalise on the momentum already gained and with a chance to start turning the financial desires and expectations Venus left you with into reality, Mars returns with a chance to fire up your financial passions and fighting spirit.Mercury, who returned in March for what is normally a 14 to 15 day chance to use his smart head for money in order to get your head in the game and to think on your feet should be long gone, but a retrograde phase has not only kept him here, but he won't leave until 16th May. This will keep Mercury here during the early weeks of Mars' six week visit and of his quest to help you take your financial power back. Coming full circle from last month's Full Moon, as well as a chance to fuel your financial instincts and imagination and to ensure you are emotionally and intuitively engaged, this is a chance to get a feel for Mars' influence.
Meanwhile, the income side of the financial fence is gearing up for a boost, less because of anything happening in your income sector and more because of what is happening professionally. This will also make the Moon's monthly visit to your income sector from 18th May to 21st May timely. This is something that every four weeks can sharpen your nose for money and act as a trigger and while a clash with Mars might create some financial tension, it won't take much to turn this into motivation on both sides of the financial fence.
